11/14/2023 0 Comments Santa cruz hightower 2021![]() And rates & compares these categories to 12 other 2021 enduro bikes. There is a very in-depth ride review article on the new Ibis Ripmo that discusses not just geometry, but climbing, agility, stability, handling and suspension. I am looking forward to putting my v2 Ripmo frame through its paces. I liked my 5010 a lot but I like my v1 Ripmo better. Both of us were really impressed with how easily this went. He contacted Ibis last Wednesday and they had a new v2 Ripmo frame in the mail to me by Friday. My bike guy identified it as a small defect in the frame where the lower link runs through the main frame. Very recently I had an intermittent clicking noise in my bottom bracket area. Examples include getting a microspline driver for their logo hub around the time of early shimano 12 speed rollout. I have emailed back and forth for various parts and they have been both responsive and amusing. I ride a Ripmo v1 that I bought new in Jan 2019. Otherwise, I had no need to interact with SC customer service. Customer service did send me a free set of bearings when I asked for them. They are the archetype mid-travel "yeah, I can ride that" bikes. I don't think you can go wrong with either a Hightower or a Ripmo v2. Hey I'm excited for you getting a new bike though, that's always fun no matter what! It'll be interesting when we get some other opinions on this. I MAY try going on a few longer paved trails this season w/my carbon stumpjumper (140/150) where I always ride HT. I DID notice, if I have your models correct here, that the Ibis looks like 147(?) rear and 160 front? That's leaning toward too much travel for me on the pavement, but you can ride the most locked-out setting, just don't know if that's good for the suspension over that many miles on the road (don't rely too much on my knowledge for that though). Lol I remember a few years ago hopping off my older Trek HT and trying a friends road bike that weighed like 2 ounces! Yeah, that WOULD be nice, but I can't see myself ever going back to a rigid bike, in any situation I ride lol, that's just me though. The balance, geo, responsiveness, all that kinematics stuff, that has effected my riding more than +/- a couple pounds. On my hardtails, commuting to work, carrying a full stuffed alice pack, or riding on 20+ mile road rides w/a light hydro pack, the weight changes enough that I wouldn't notice. If I were regularly hauling it up lots of tech climbs in the woods, THEN I could see that little difference influencing my decision. That little bit has never been a factor for me personally. The weight spec's between these two seems like it's +/- under 2 lbs. So whatever you choose especially between these two superb bikes will be a win or a win! ![]() Well just seeing how other come to their opinions, agree or not, is what helps us come to our own decisions lol.
